ABOUT
Maurice Prost - French 1894 – 1967 Born in Paris he specialised in animal figures and groups. He exhibited at Salon des Artistes Français, and was awarded the Légion d'Honneur in 1933. Fate dealt him a cruel blow when he had to have his arm amputated after being wounded by a bullet in the first months of World War I in 1914. He consequently abandoned his profession, as a jeweller, and opted for his passion, animal sculpture. Widely acknowledged by the public, the critics and the art professionals of his time, during his career he received the highest praise. His work, rich and remarkable, illustrates the modernity of Art-Deco, one of the richest periods of the XXth century.
