Ferdinand Lepke (born March 23, 1866, Coburg – died March 12, 1909, Berlin) was a German sculptor best known for his classical and heroic figurative works. He studied at the Berlin Academy of Arts from the 1880s, becoming a disciple of Fritz Schaper, and was influenced by neoclassicism while later incorporating elements of Jugendstil and emerging 20th-century trends. Lepke produced both monumental public sculptures and more intimate bronze and marble figures—“Phryne,” “Diana (Bogenspannerin),” and “The Writer” among them. His pieces often show elegant realistic form, evocative expressions, and strong attention to anatomical detail.
