ABOUT
Solange Bertrand – French, March 20, 1913 to January 22, 2011 ~ studied the art schools in Nancy, where she spent four years, and in Paris. During the World War II she worked as a aqualified voluntary nurse with the armed forces, in children's centres among children sent away from bombed areas and with prisoners and deportees being repatriated. She lived and worked in Metz. She first exhibited her work in 1945, showing at the Salon d'Automne and the S alon de Mai, at Comparaisons, at Women painters and Sculptors and in collectives. She has numerous solo exhibitions of her paintings, especially in Paris (Galerie Di Meo, 1962; Galerie d'Estree,1988) and Metz 9 retrospective, Salle de la Mutualite, 1965; Centre d'Arts plastiques, 1992), also in cities in the provinces, in Luxemburg, Belgium, Holland and elsewhere. She has recieved several honorary awards.
