Irénée René Rochard (French, 1906 ~ 1984) – born in Villefranche sur Saône in 1906,

Irénée René Rochard was a renowned French sculptor known for his elegant and graceful Art Deco creations. He was born on July 10, 1906, in Villefranche-sur-Saône, France. From a young age, Rochard showed an early talent for art and design, which he cultivated through his apprenticeship with his father, a skilled cabinetmaker,his mother was a painter and his brother was the actor-singer Armand Mestral. 

During the 1920s and 1930s, the Art Deco movement was at its height, and Rochard's sculptures perfectly captured the essence of this era. He specialized in creating bronze animal figurines and female forms, each characterized by their clean lines, dynamic poses, and a sense of movement.

Rochard's attention to detail and his ability to capture the natural grace of his subjects made his sculptures highly sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts alike. His work often depicted the fluidity and sensuality of the human body, exuding a timeless appeal that transcended the passing trends of the time.
