A number of fine original bronze sculptures are not signed. This may have been on the artist’s wish, but often this can relate to bronzes that are contemporary copies or have been greatly influenced by an earlier subject that the artist wanted to revisit. This is particularly true for ‘Grand Tour Souvenir’ bronzes where the 19th Century artists would be copying as closely as possibly a classical or renaissance figure, demonstrating their skill at remodelling the subject to the very highest standard.
